What's In The Power Flower Name?

It can be difficult to name a new enterprise, to put it lightly. How exactly does one capture heartfelt sentiment behind the mission without being too literal, too predictable, or too esoteric? Not to mention the problem of authenticity as it seems like every name in the world has already been invented.

We decided on Power Flower because it concisely captures the essence of our mission. First and foremost, we promote health and wellness that can be derived from nature. This is certainly not a new concept. Our ancient ancestors found plants to heal wounds, cure illnesses, and ease their troubled minds. Medicinal use of indigenous plants can be found in every culture worldwide, dating well into prehistory. Without question, there truly is 'power in the flower.' But what exactly do we mean when we say, "Power?" The word can be used in many contexts to communicate many different ideas. I've come to love this word in association with our brand as it takes on many different, but equally important, embodiments.

As a noun, Power often describes strength, which is core to our message. We promote health and wellness by building physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Strength is directly tied to endurance which means that we're in a better position to navigate, persevere, and overcome the challenges of life.

Power is also used in the context of energy - like battery power, electrical power, nuclear power, etc. Again, this aligns perfectly with our goal to increase our energy levels through healthier living. Harnessing this form of power means having the energy to accomplish more in our lives and reach greater heights.

My favorite embodiment of power comes in the form of authority. To be clear, I'm not talking about wielding influence and control over others; I'm talking about personal empowerment - taking better command of our own lives. Life is fraught with situations beyond our control. As individuals, we can't control the economy, the weather, the crime rate, or the global pandemic. We can, however, take charge of our own minds and bodies. Empowerment requires becoming more deeply attuned to our personal wellbeing - awareness of our imbalances and ailments (cognitive, emotional, and physical) and identifying their underlying causes. It means finding ways to restore balance and maintain our health on a daily basis. This, for me, is the core message behind Power Flower. We have built a company with the purpose of empowering others to live healthier and happier lives. While we can never completely control the world around us, we can take charge of our own health and find the power to carry us through.
